Pearson Auditorium Historic Renovation
New Mexico Military Institute, Roswell, NM
2011

Size of Project: 25,000 square feet
LEED Silver Certification

The $7.2 million, historic renovation of the 1940’s era Pearson Auditorium was accomplished in phases as funding became available. Designed in the military gothic style the building’s makeover transformed the facility into a modern day performance venue. With the replacement of the building’s infrastructure, the installation of state-of-the-art theatre systems and controls, and the reconfigured slope and refurbished seating, this historic building is rejuvenated for service well into the future.

The new lighting and theatre control systems are accompanied by a full acoustical treatment including acoustical clouds, and strategically placed, acoustically absorbent sound panels.
The building’s interior design was informed by the 1940’s details of ornate cast iron seats, original light fixtures, and the military design influence.

Pearson Auditorium serves as a community resource for touring theatre performances and the Roswell Symphony Orchestra.
