Pearson Auditorium Historic Renovation
New Mexico Military Institute, Roswell
2011

The historic renovation of the 1940’s era Pearson Auditorium was accomplished in phases as funding became available. Designed in the military Gothic style the building’s makeover transformed the facility into a modern day performance venue. With the replacement of the building’s infrastructure, the installation of state-of-the-art theatre systems and controls, and the reconfigured slope and refurbished seating, this historic building is rejuvenated for service well into the future.

New lighting and theatre control systems, full acoustical treatments including acoustical clouds, and strategically placed, acoustically absorbent sound panels creates a multi-use facility. The building’s interior design was informed by the 1940’s details of ornate cast iron seats, original light fixtures, and the military design influence.

The important connection between NMMI and the City of Roswell was strengthened by NMMI’s commitment to rejuvenating Pearson Auditorium and re-purposing it as a community resource to be used for touring theatre performances and the Roswell Symphony Orchestra.
