Santa Fe Public Schools Southwest Elementary School & Bilingual Early Childhood Center

The school consists of three distinct elements:

The school core

The classrooms

The Bilingual Early Childhood
     Center or BECC

VHGA worked closely with the Building Committee, staff, and District Administration to master plan and design this new school on the rapidly growing south side. The site master plan addressed the design of the new school, the location and the seamless integration of future growth, the circulation of pedestrian, vehicular, and bus traffic, and site infrastructure for this undeveloped location.

The school plant contains a core area of a media center, gymnasium, cafeteria/multi-purpose room, and administrative offices. The classroom wings and protected play areas and activity plazas are designed to the age of the users.

An important component of this school is the Bilingual Early Childhood Center (BECC) designed to serve the needs of a very specialized student body.
